Sex researchers are busy studying ways in which sex can improve your health.  From kissing and cuddling with your honey to how many orgasms a year it takes to benefit health the list goes on and on.  Some of the findings may come as a surprise, let’s take a look:

 

Swap the Aspirin.

According to scientists, the hypothalamus region of the brain which is connected to the pituitary gland and affected by headaches, experiences levels of activity during orgasm. Additionally, arousal and orgasm increases oxytocin, widely dubbed the love hormone, in your system, causing the pituitary gland to release endorphins—peptides that dull pain and trigger feelings of well-being. Brain oxytocin also reduces stress responses, including anxiety. Alas, the ‘Not tonight – I have a headache’ excuse is no longer valid.

 

Sex Glow.

During orgasm the endorphin’s rush increasing blood and oxygen circulation. Your skin therefore reaps some beauty benefits from the big O. This sex glow is partly caused by your body’s release of dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA, a hormone produced by your body's adrenal glands, which promotes healthy skin and improves the complexion. DHEA has also been shown to increase production of collagen—the protein that gives youthful skin its suppleness.

 

Regulate Cravings.

Some studies show that throughout sexual activity, the body produces phenethylamine, known as an endogenous neuroamine, or the body's natural amphetamine, that is thought to  help reduce cravings for junk food, cigarettes and overeating. A benefit in the use of phenylethylamine is that it improves mood, and the improved mood in turn potentially helps to regulate and diminish appetite and cravings.

 

Fend Off Infections.

According to researchers, people who have regular sex were found to produce higher levels of immunoglobulin A, or IgA, an antibody that fends off infection. Other studies have indicated that men who have orgasms at least five times a week are at a lower risk for prostate cancer.
